The Story of Mr. Petersen and Marine Services...
Wakeless Harbor Marine Service means MASTER Boat Repair by a factory trained service professional of over 37 years. Gary Petersen owned Petersen Marine Development, Inc. in Page, Arizona for 22 years, during which time he was named ‘MASTER 1 in 1000’ Graduate of American Marine Institute and received Master status with OMC,Cobra,Volvo and Mercury Marine. Master Certified among many training achievements and commendations, Gary was commissioned to write the training syllabus and implement its application at Yavapai College and NAU in northern Az. Gary taught in a college classroom environment for 5 years in post secondary education, in Prescott, Flagstaff, and Page, Az. In a nationwide search, Gary was the selected by Marine Mechanics Institute, to develop new training criteria in power plant failure diagnostics under the direction of Bernie Thompson and Art Johnson out of their Orlando, Florida division.
A Master engine developer and builder, Gary’s professional racing affiliations include, National Drag Boat Association, United Boat Racers, National Jet Boat Association, and National Hot Boat Association. Having been a professional drag boat racer for 17 years he set an unofficial world record in top fuel hydro of 246mph in 5.23 seconds. He also raced both top alcohol hydro’s and un-blown gas hydro’s. Petersen Marine Development, Inc. built among other engines (including tractors) from concept to end product over 30 PMDI 920hpTwinTurbo marine engines .
His wife likes to say, “If he can’t fix your boat, it can’t be fixed!” and many of his customers quote her! That’s high praise! Gary’s favorite comment as related to fast boats is “if you can turn it, it isn’t fast enough!”

1982 Guinness World Record Using an Eliminator Boat with a power plant and drive system built especially for this purpose by PMDI, Gary pulled a slalom skier non-stop the entire navigable length of Lake Powell at speeds exceeding 70mph

1983 Guinness World Record for the most water skiers up at one time behind ONE vessel. 118 standing skiers skied the required distance to set this world record. The vessel powered by 2 supernatural Detroit 149 marine engines built by PMDI. Gary’s son, Brandon, who is our DEEP SIX Transportation arm, was among the 118 water skiers on the world record run. He was 12 at the time!
